PALMITOS DE NARANJO
Palmitos is part of the province of Alajuela, surrounded by mountains it provides a unique scenario with coffee plantations in between the houses and forest. About 7 years ago, it became District Number 8 of the division of Naranjo, Alajuela. It has a population of 2500 inhabitants, it is a traditional coffee zone. District 8 is made up of the towns of Palmitos, San Roque and Concepción. San Roque produces coffee and sweet cane production, and Concepción has coffee farms and ornamental plants. Palmitos is known by the coffee plantations all around.
COMMUNITY PROGRESS
The town has progressed in time, thanks to agricultural activity, it has now paved streets, it has new non-traditional investments such as a "call center", it has a soccer field. Also the community has its own Health Center an investment done by the government of Costa Rica together with the Social Security System. In this center, people are able to get free assistance and health care.
COMMUNITY FACILITIES
The community enjoys a park and a communal kitchen for local activities and celebrations. Sports have been greatly promoted within the community and the town has an athletic track and tennis courts. The favorite sport is soccer and they have 6 teams registered in the sports committee, which is made up of a men's and women's team. It is a town with a desire to progress and improve their quality of life. Another favorable aspect is the good supply of drinking water, an investment also made by the government of Costa Rica.
COOPERATION TO PALMITOS
Thanks to the perseverance and cooperation of the public and the private sector, we can confirm that this towns of Costa Rica are not abandoned, on the other hand they are progressing. The main motor is the growth and development of the coffee, ornamental plants and sweet cane companies that offers a good sources of work with enough incentives for people to live well from this agricultural activities. The town has been growing in an orderly and healthy manner. Café don Victor promotes this growth, with the coffee farm and the coffee mill, we provide year after year, a great source of work for the people at Palmitos and their neighboring towns and we continue with projects of social responsibility for the people that are part of the coffee industry.
